Karen Kafkis
STUDIO OWNER
As a previous dancer, Spin instructor, and personal trainer, Karen was drawn to Pilates as a practice that merged all of her previous passions. Originally trained in STOTT Pilates, she has been practicing and teaching for over 25 years. Her first studio, The Pilates Barre, opened in 2007 in Winnetka. Since dedicating her life to Pilates, Karen continues to follow her passion for teaching and nurturing quality instructors at The Pilates House. Her teaching style is a combination of Contemporary and Classical movement with personalized adjustments for every individual.

Joanne Duckler
STUDIO MANAGER
Joanne has been practicing Pilates since 2007. She met Karen through the Pilates community and has been helping her manage her studios ever since.

Amanda Houde
INSTRUCTOR/POST PARTUM SPECIALIST
Amanda started her journey with movement as a dancer from a young age and earned her BS in Exercise Physiology where she found a deeper love for movement and biomechanics. After working as a private personal trainer and Spin instructor, Amanda found Pilates. She began teaching Pilates in 2011 and worked to earn her full STOTT Pilates certification in 2012. She believes Pilates is the perfect format - logical, functional movements aimed at safely strengthening the body and mind.

Lila Ray Goldsmith
INSTRUCTOR
Lila discovered Pilates 12 years ago when trying to get back in shape after her third child and has been addicted ever since. She has been teaching for 10 years, sharing her passion for Pilates with all of her clients. Lila believes our bodies and minds are always evolving and wants her clients to feel empowered after their sessions.

Haley Rosin
INSTRUCTOR
Haley is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with a BA in Dance and a focus on Pilates, Gyrokinesis/Gyrotonic, and anatomy. Haley is a Pilates educator trained through Polestar Pilates. She has been working in the Pilates world for over 5 years and is trained in both classical and contemporary styles of Pilates. As a certified yoga instructor, Haley loves to explore a fusion of Pilates and yoga, bringing a fresh flow to her classes.

With over 20 years of experience in movement, I am passionate about empowering individuals to achieve physical and mental well-being through mindful, transformative exercise. My journey began with yoga, which provided strength and balance during a pivotal time in my life, inspiring me to delve deeper into mindful movement. Now, as a Certified Pilates Instructor, I’m dedicated to sharing the profound benefits of Pilates and yoga, helping others achieve their fitness goals and find inner harmony through these practices. -
Emily Tressel
INSTRUCTOR
Emily’s journey into fitness training started as a certified Personal Trainer in 2022 and she completed her Pilates instructor certification through NEU Pilates in 2024. She discovered the transformative benefits of Pilates after facing pelvic floor issues and undergoing hip surgery, which inspired her to pursue a career in fitness and rehabilitation. With a background in strength training and specialized training in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), Emily offers a well-rounded approach to wellness.

Leslie Pratt
INSTRUCTOR
Leslie Pratt transitioned from a business career to bodywork in 2002, combining her passion for movement with extensive expertise in anatomy and physiology. A STOTT Certified Pilates Instructor, Leslie’s comprehensive training spans mat, reformer, prenatal, postnatal, and injury-focused programs, making her well-equipped to support athletes of all levels. Outside the studio, she enjoys rowing, skiing, cooking, and traveling with her husband.
